1. Bandit
A Pomeranian-poodle mix called Bandit deserves to be listed as heroic pet because he prevented a tragedy and saved lives of DiStefani family from Mays Landing, New Jersey, on the night when toxic black smoke was filling the house. That night, a hair brush was being sterilized in a pot of boiling water when it began to melt and eventually black smoke filled the house while the family slept. Fortunately, Bandit was there. It ran into the bedroom and started to bark and jump on Mrs. DiStefani’s chest until she awoke. Mrs. DiStefani later said that she believe in miracles and she thought there was a reason the dog has been here. She called Bandit ”hero and a miracle dog.” And of course, Bandit was rewarded with a chicken for his birthday by his proud owner.

2. Magic
Magic, a miniature horse from Florida is famous as a therapy horse in hospitals, hospice programs and other facilities. With her owner, Magic visits elderly hospice residents, young cancer patients and abused children as part of Gentle Carousel Therapy Horses. She has began her therapy horse training since she was a baby. Magic has become better known since she won The AARP magazine’s 2010 Heroic Pet contest. There is one story which brought Magic the winning votes. During a therapy program, the horse visited a patient, Kathleen Loper, who hadn’t spoken since arriving at the facility three years earlier. When Loper saw Magic, she said, “”Isn’t she beautiful.” After that, Loper has reportedly been conversing with staff at the facility.
3. Angel
A golden retriever nearly gave its life to save its 11-year-old owner Austin Sunday from Bar Boston, a small Canadian. That day, Austin was gathering firewood near his home, when he came face to face with a cougar. Angel leaped into action and threw herself between the young boy and the wild cat that was charging at him. Angel and the lethal predator fought under the family’s deck, while the boy’s mother called 911 for help. Police was nearby and was at the scene within a minute. They killed the cougar, and after a few moments of suspense, the dog coughed back to life.The lucky boy can say without a doubt that he has his own personal guardian angel.
4. Rabbit
A quick-thinking pet rabbit, called simply Rabbit, saved an Australian couple from a fire that started in their house while they were sleeping. The rabbit woke the couple, Michelle Finn and her partner Gerry Keogh, by scratching on their bedroom door when smoke poured through the house in the Macleod area of Melbourne. Gerry went to investigate and after a while he discovered a fire in a back room and smoke spreading quickly through the house. Thanks to the smart rabbit, Michelle and Gerry were able to escape unharmed.
5. Buddy
Buddy is a German shepherd who convinced us the dog indeed is man’s best friend. Buddy’s owner Ben Heinrichs was working in the family shop when a heater touched off a fire fueled by chemicals in the shop. As the fire grew, Ben ran out and told Buddy: “We need to get help.” Although Buddy had never been trained, he ran out, finding Alaskan Trooper and guided him to the blaze. At the end, the shop was destroyed and a shed was heavily damaged, but Buddy managed to save the house. Ben said he had known the dog was clever and brave because this wasn’t the first time Buddy helped him. Earlier, the dog two times chased bears away when his owner was fishing.
6. Bhoori
A woman form Pakistan was miraculously saved by her “swimming cow” called Bhoori, which carried her for hours through surging waters before leading her to safety. 70-year-old Zainab Bibi was sleeping in the courtyard near the cattle pen when suddenly water came from nowhere and entered her home. Her sons and their failies were on the roof when she found herself in the midst of flood waters that were dragging her into the deep. Moments later Bhoori came from nowhere and Zinab clung to the cow’s neck. They were floating around and many hours later Zinab finally felt ground under her feet. Rescued woman later said, “Allah Almighty will bless our Bhoori.”
7. Blue
It started as a routine weekend training run in Long Island for a police dog named Blue but it has become a top-priority search for a possible serial killer. Police officer John Mallia and his German shepherd called Blue were walking along Ocean Parkway between Cedar Beach and Gilgo Beach when the dog’s tail perked up. The police officer immediately found a human skeleton and this discovery encouraged police to continue searching the area. Over the next few days, three other skeletons were subsequently detected by Blue. Because of the proximity of the bodies, police was working under the assumption the four suspicious deaths are connected. Mallia said that nothing in the over 20 years he has worked with cadaver-detecting dogs compared with those couple of days he worked with Blue.
8. Target
Target, an Afghanistan war dog, chased away a suicide bomber inside a military base and saved lives of 50 soldiers. The dog barked and attacked the bomber while he was attempting to enter the soldiers’ tent. The bomber blew himself up and all the soldiers survived thanks to Target. From then on, the hero dog was treated like royalty at the base near the Pakistan border. The heroic pat was featured on Oprah and had a following of fans across America. Unfortunately, Target was accidentally put down at an Animal Shelter in Arizona.
9. Lima

Lima is a cat that showed her bravery and strength one morning when her owner was attacked by two pit bulls outside her home. Cherry Woods form Pearland, Texas, claims she was walking back to her home when she saw the two 100-pound dogs from a distance. When the dogs started charging towards her, Cherry tried to fight them off, but they knocked her down couple of times. Just while she was thinking that the situation is hopeless, her cat Lima burst onto the scene and jumped into the fray. Cherry’s husband later said that the cat came out of the bushes, and scratched one dog and started hissing at it. The dogs turned their attention to Lima and Mr. Woods was able to grab his wife and pull her inside the house. While Cherry Woods was recovering, Lima was keeping watch.
